Located in Maremma, in southern Tuscany, Fattoria Le Pupille is a renowned winery founded in the late 1970s and managed by Elisabetta Geppetti together with her children, Clara and Ettore. Poggio Argentato is a white wine composed of a blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Petit Manseng, with minor additions of Traminer and Semillon. The grapes are sourced from two different vineyards located at an altitude of 200-250 meters above sea level and planted between 2001 and 2020. In the Pian di Fiora vineyard, the vines enjoy a southeast exposure and are rooted in tuff soil, rich in minerals, alabaster, and a small amount of chalk. The smaller Le Piagge vineyard, on the other hand, has a northeast exposure and very loose, deep, clay-loam soil. After harvesting and gentle pressing, fermentation takes place in stainless steel at a controlled temperature. The finished wine rests on the lees in stainless steel for 5 months and briefly in used tonneaux. In the glass, the wine reveals a straw-yellow color with bright golden highlights. Its aromatic profile is broad and fragrant, with floral and herbaceous notes intertwined with fruity aromas of lemon, peach, and apple. On the palate, it is fresh and juicy, dry and lively, with crisp acidity and a long, fruity finish. It pairs well with fish and seafood, and spaghetti with clams.
