Located in Chile, Lapostolle winery is considered a pioneer in the country’s winemaking industry and recognized worldwide for the high quality of its wines. The winery, founded in the mid-1990s by Alexandra Marnier Lapostolle and her husband, is located in the Colchagua Valley and today owns approximately 370 hectares spread across three different vineyards. Management is today in the hands of Charles de Bournet. The Cuvée Alexandre Carmenere is made with small additions of Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon, hand-picked from select parcels of the Clos Apalta vineyard. After harvesting and macerating for approximately 25 days, fermentation takes place in stainless steel at a controlled temperature. The finished wine then ages for 13 months in used French oak barrels. In the glass, the wine reveals an intense color with purple reflections. Its aromatic profile is expressive and complex, with notes of plum, blackberry, and berry, intertwined with spicy and aromatic herbal notes, against a background reminiscent of oak. On the palate, it is round and juicy, silky and elegant, with a medium body and soft tannins. It is fruity and rich, with a long and concentrated finish. Try it with rabbit stew, lamb meatballs, or truffle macaroni and cheese.
