Known as one of Austria's most prestigious wineries, Prager is located in the Wachau region and, since the 90’s, is run by Ilse Prager and her husband, Toni Bodenstein. The estate boasts over 18 hectares of vineyards spread across steep terraces in some of the region's most prestigious sites, where Riesling and Gruner Veltliner reign supreme, creating wines of great elegance and longevity. Wachstum Bodenstein Riesling Smaragd is made with grapes from several parcels of the estate's finest vineyards, selected and blended by Toni Bodenstein. Here, the vines, planted on steep terraces on arid, primary rock soils, benefit from a microclimate characterized by significant temperature variations that favor slow ripening and the development of bright acidity. After manual harvesting, the vinification takes place traditionally, and the finished wine rests on the lees, acquiring structure and complexity. The wine reveals a broad and fragrant aromatic profile with notes of aromatic herbs, citrus, stone fruit, and citrus zest. On the palate, it is concentrated and juicy, crisp and taut, with a distinctive minerality and a long, persistent, and saline finish. Its mineral character and exceptional freshness make it particularly versatile for food pairings. It pairs deliciously with buttered lobster, raw seafood, and roasted monkfish, and works well also with game birds.
